This week we began working on bow hold. Please refer to instructions in the blue book (pg.11) and strings packet for setting up bow hold. If you logon to SIOnline.alfred.com you can access practice videos and audio tracks. (See the code on the back of your blue sound innovations book to get access.) Here are some videos I shared in class for bow hold:
Bass Bowhold Cello Bowhold Violin/Viola Bowhold It's very frustrating for students to play with an incorrect bow hold because holding the bow incorrectly corrects a bad sound on the instrument. I will continue to remind students to practice their bow hold and may even ask students to stop playing to reset the bow hold during class. Although the bow hold can feel uncomfortable and awkward at first, it will become natural with lots of practice:) Please email me with any questions. Things to work on this week: 1. Violins/Violas, putting shoulder rest on and getting the instrument up on the shoulder 2. Cellos/Bass adjusting end pin to the correct height 3. Sitting/Standing straight with good posture (feet flat on the floor) 3. Bowhold 4. String Cycle with bow 5. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (with bow)
